Another lesson in impulsive buying.

Following the enclosed owner's manual, I made an attempt by connecting my Inspirion 660 hard drive into the Zilkee recovery device. Once activated I was hopefully as my computer gave its notification sound which led me to the Internet Explorer files. The device was visible, but it contained no data. I found this odd and returned to the owner's manual instruction leaflet. I discovered that my SATA drive had no port to connect the enclosed 4 pin Molex power cable. The Zilkee device did show a blue light which I surmise meant it is connected & running. Nope. So, while the IE folder showed the drive, I never received a "pop-up" alert. Again, following instructions I attempted to help my computer find the USB device I was hoping to extract data from & into my new CPU. Nope. Mind you, I'm a horticulturist not an IT person I grew increasingly distressed over the trial run. I then pulled the HDD from an older computer only to discover that the DIMENSION XPS T700r was incompatible with the Zilkee. I suffer no embarrassment admitting to a lack of technical computer knowledge. I am able to accept the possibility of my making a human error. But what seemed a surefire way to recover HDD data has become a migraine headache and the regret over the purchase. The two HDD configurations supported limit the user to either SATA or IDE. Let me offer that the patience required to search for HDD manuals and to seek Dell advice on older models is problematic. The very limited time frame to return goes against the standard thirty-day window required by US law. I really value my time, and don't appreciate discovering I'm in a circular downward spiral ending in a less than "Getting to Yes" outcome.
